R4 and R4 DS Cards

In the third week of November, in the year 1895, a dense yellow fog settled down upon London. The second and third had been patiently occupied upon a subject which he had recently made his hobby -- the music of the Middle Ages. But when, for the fourth time, after pushing back our chairs from breakfast we saw the greasy, heavy brown swirl still drifting past us and condensing in oily drops upon the window-panes, my comrade's impatient and active nature could endure this drab existence no longer. He paced restlessly about our sitting-room in a fever of suppressed energy, biting his nails, tapping the furniture, and chafing against inaction.

"Nothing of interest in the paper, Watson?" he said.

I was aware that by anything of interest, Holmes meant anything of criminal interest. There was the news of a revolution, of a possible war, and of an impending change of government; but these did not come within the horizon of my companion. I could see nothing recorded in the shape of crime which was not commonplace and futile. Holmes groaned and resumed his restless meanderings.

Alex Rider: Stormbreaker is a video game for the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance portable gaming systems. The video game is based on the 2006 motion picture Stormbreaker, which in turn was based on the eponymous 2000 novel.

Stormbreaker is the first novel in the Alex Rider series by British author Anthony Horowitz about a fourteen-year old orphan boy that gets involved into a spy adventure. The film adaptation featured Alex Pettyfer as Alex Rider, Alicia Silverstone as Jack Starbright, and Mickey Rourke as Darrius Sayle, but was a box office flop. In the United States, the motion picture was called Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker.

As for the video game Alex Rider: Stormbreaker, the gameplay involves combat, stealth, driving, and gadgets. The mission briefings are courtesy of MI6 officials Alan Blunt and Mrs. Jones. Also included is an series of mini games by armorer Smithers and an MI6 training camp mode, where players can put their skills to the test.

The game begins with the player controlling Ian Rider, Alex's uncle, trying to escape from the mansion of Darius Sayle. Alex discovers that his uncle was not a banker but a spy. The MI6 tells Alex that Herod Sayle is planning to give a Stormbreaker computer to every school in Great Britain. Alex must go undercover to figure out what Ian Rider meant by "virus." The game was criticized for lacking decent gameplay and instead having disappointing 3D graphics, with the pool mini game as the only exception. That single point, however, was not enough to save this Nintendo DS game from becoming as much of a flop as the movie.
